Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has turned into a global pandemic affecting people all over the world. Though lockdowns, self-isolation and other preventive measures are being implemented, morbidity and mortality figures of COVID-19 are still on the rise. Though several drugs and agents have been proposed to manage this new pandemic, no approved treatment guidelines have been announced yet. Researchers have pinned their hopes on development of vaccine to end this pandemic and its rapid spread. Large scale vaccine trials are being conducted to achieve this goal. This article will give an overview of the various vaccines which are in contention for managing COVID-19. © 2020 Society for Biomaterials.
