The structure and properties of PPTA paper prepared by solvent method

A new method of preparing PPTA paper was introduced in this paper. The structure of PPTA paper prepared by solvent method was studied by SEM. The results showed that the PPTA fibers were swelled and dissolved partly. The fibers were bonded together when solvent was removed. The indexes of tensile strength, tear strength and bursting strength of the paper were 72.6 N·m/g, 43.1 mN·m2/g, 5.86 KPa·m2/g respectively. The 5% weight loss temperature of the PPTA paper was 572.15°C in nitrogen. The results showed the PPTA paper prepared by solvent method has good thermal properties.
