摘要
The electrorefining of cerium which was used as a simulated metal in NaCl-KCl-CeCl3 molten salt system was studied, in order to provide a research basis for purifying U, Pu and other metals in dry reprocessing of spent fuel. The effects of CeCl3 concentration, electrolysis temperature and cathode current density on the yield and current efficiency of electrorefining Ce were studied. The optimum process conditions are as follows: CeCl3 concentration is about 20%~25%, electrolytic refining temperature is 900~950 ℃, cathode current density is 0.35~0.45 A•cm-2 and dense cerium ingots are obtained, the product yield greater than 70%. The impurity elements Al, Fe, Cu, Cr and Mn decreased greatly after refining, especially the removal effect of Fe was significantly reduced from 1300×10-6 to 200×10-6. © 2020, Editorial Office of Journal of the Chinese Society of Rare Earths.
