European polyvinyl chloride (PVC) producers have announced price increases of &euro30-&euro50/m.t. for October, 2002 to &euro770-&euro810/m.t. del, due to increasing feedstock prices. It is expected that prices will fall in the fourth quarter of 2002 due to seasonal demand downturn, but the PVC market is improved since the year 2001. PVC demand in Central Europe will be increased because of reconstruction following flooding in the region, reducing some of the effects of the seasonal downturn. Demand from the construction industry in Central and Eastern Europe was strong, and will help European PVC producers to overcome relatively strong demand in Western Europe.
