Numeric simulation of heat transfer enhancement characteristics at air-cooling-side of plate-fin heat exchanger

A steady turbulent flow mathematic model was established for offset fin channels at cooling air side of a plate-fin heat exchanger. The distribution figures of flow fields, temperature, turbulence intensity, heat transfer coefficient, and pressure drop in the channel of the computational domain are simulated using FLUENT software. They are presented in visual angles of both/either mean section slices and/or up-surfaces of fins. The computational results are helpful for better understanding of the mechanism of heat transfer enhancement of offset fins in plate-fin heat exchangers.
