Study on kinetics of polyesterification of adipic acid with neopentyl glycol

We investigate the kinetics of polyesterification of adipic acid with neopentyl glycol. Flory's and Lin's kinetic equations were amended by using Hu - Wang's polyesterification kinetic equation which eliminate the effect of the removal of water. The relationship between the reaction rate and the parameters such as reaction temperature, reaction time etc was investigated. The results indicated that all conversion rates in the range of reaction temperature were between 87.75% - 95.18% and the kinetic process of polyesterification system conformed to Lin's kinetic theory.
