摘要
The challenges associated with the description of the transient filtration/loading behavior of diesel particulate filters and the problem of predicting the pressure drop behavior of the filters are discussed. A numerical code has been developed to solve the model equation that simulates the deep-bed-to-cake transition through the progressive blocking of the filter wall. A prescribed particle size distribution is tracked through the filter medium, which is discretized in slabs where the local collection efficiency is computed using the concept of `unit collector.'
