International Paper Co. (IP) and Georgia-Pacific Corp. (G-P) both signed agreements with the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to complete environmental projects under a federal program known as Project XL. IP will develop, test, and implement an innovative emission monitoring computer model. G-P will install the first commercial application of a black liquor gasification system for recovering pulp chemicals.
