The key speaker at the Compound Semiconductor Outlook 2001 conference in San Diego at the end of February challenged people to think differently about the Light Emitting Diode market. He emphasized that the more immediate multi-billion dollar markets for power LEDs would be emergency vehicle lights, automotive rear brake lights, single-LED flashlights, and LCD flat-panel display back-lights.
