International Scientific and Technical Conference on 'Modern Problems in Metallurgical Production' was held on October 1-3, 2002, at Volgograd State Technical University. The Conference was organized by Industry, Science, and Technology Ministry of Russian Federation and Volgograd State Technical University. Modern status of metal industry has been analyzed. Prospects for development of metal industry have been considered. Rational methods of manufacturing the metal products have been discussed. Production of large ingots for machine building has been described. Problems in resource saving have been considered.
