A hysteretic model for laterally unsupported H-shaped steel beams considering local and lateral buckling under cyclic loading

Beams are important earthquake resistant members that dominate the seismic response of the structure. It is therefore important to clarify the performance of beams that are subjected to repeated loads. The purpose is to propose the elastic-plastic hysteretic models for H-shaped steel beams with a small slenderness ratio for lateral torsional buckling that take into account coupled buckling. We develop a monotonic load-deformation relationship model for beams subjected to an antisymmetric moment. This model considered yield strength, maximum strength, deformation at maximum strength, and strength deterioration. The hysteretic model under the cyclic loading is proposed based on the monotonic model. © 2019 Architectural Institute of Japan. All rights reserved.
