摘要
To obtain the conductor temperature of power cables, we propose a method that directly measures the temperature in real-time through a sensor embedded in the junction of the power cable. Compared with conventional methods, which usually calculate the conductor temperature from the measured surface temperature of cables based on heat transfer models, the proposed method prevails in both response speed and precision, as well as in the speed of locating hot spots. According to the different structures of sensor circuits, two basic methods can be employed for direct temperature measurement of power cable joints, i.e., the active sensor method and the passive sensor method. The active sensor method has higher precision, while the passive sensor method occupies smaller sensor space and has a wider measuring range. A detailed application of an active sensor module is designed, and then is tested in measuring the temperature rise of a 110 kV cable conductor under step current in a test system. The results show that, without affecting the electrical properties of the cable joint, the embedded module can obtain temperature curves coinciding with those measured through a simulative circuit in both shape and trend, proving the effectiveness of the proposed method.
