Study on thermal properties of titanium-doped sapphire crystal

The thermal properties of titanium-doped sapphire crystal were systematically analyzed. The principal thermal expansion coefficients were measured to be α1=3.8×10-6 K-1 and α3=6.4×10-6 K-1 over the temperature range of 303.15-764.15 K with a thermal dilatometer. The experimental specific heat was 0.766 J ·g-1 ·K-1 at 298.15 K. The thermal diffusivity of the crystal was measured over the temperature range of 303-570 K for the first time through the laser flash method. Dependences of principal thermal conductivity components k on thermodynamic temperature T were fitted to be k1=-626.60772/(-2.52108T+706.53622)+5.96781 and k3=-1347.76226/(-2.37632T+616.40571)+5.88351;
