Effect of sand-gravel compaction piles in reinforcing liquefied foundation

The study background of this paper is the Chao-he River Marked NO.2 of the Middle Route of South-to-North Water Transfer, it initially estimated the foundation that has been processed by sand-gravel compaction pile. After the initial estimation, it needs to further discriminate the liquefaction, and apply standard penetration test to conduct comprehensive analysis and calculation and discrimination. Through testing and detecting the foundation that had been processed by sand-gravel compaction pile, the findings showed that the sand-gravel compaction pile could achieve the purpose of eliminating ground liquefaction. Among the tested 70 groups, only 1 group occurred liquefaction, while the other 69 groups didn't. Using the sand-gravel compaction pile to handle the foundation has a critical value and significance for the operational safety of general main canal of South-to-North Water Transfer Project. Meanwhile, it is worth promotion and application as an economical and effective method of handling foundation liquefaction, and provides a reference to a degree for foundation treatment under similar geological circumstances. © 2014 ejge.
