Electrolytic production of aluminum is accompanied by emission of harmful substances. Off-gases from electrolytic cells contain highly toxic compounds of fluorine compounds, inorganic dust, and resin substances. Cleaning of the gases by means of scrubbers is not efficient. In connection with this, systems for alumina adsorption of hydrogen fluoride with the use of bag collectors have been developed. Investigations have shown that efficiency of dust collector is 99.8%. Efficiency of hydrogen fluoride collection is 98.6%. Scheme of the bag collector has been presented. Design of the collector has been described.
