Experimental study on convection heat transfer characteristics of stacked pebble-bed channels with an internal heat source

In order to research the heat transfer characteristics of pebble bed channels with an internal heat source, the electromagnetic induction heating method was adopted in this paper. This caused overall heating of the pebble bed which was composed of 8 mm diameter surface-oxidated steel balls. The rules of power distribution and heat transfer coefficients changing with heat flux density, inlet temperature, and the working fluid's Re number were researched. According to the experimental data fitting, the dimensionless heat transfer coefficient correlation criteria were obtained, and it was found that the fitting and experimental results agree well within a 7% difference.
