Influence of openings on lateral stiffness of multi-ribbed composite walls

Influence of opening location and ratio on the lateral stiffness of multi-ribbed composite wall was studied. An opening reduction coefficient was introduced to lateral stiffness calculation of the multi-ribbed composite wall with openings. Finite element analysis models with different opening parameters were established. The results show that quadratic correlation exists between opening location relative coordinates and lateral stiffness of walls, and linear correlation exists between opening ratio and lateral stiffness of walls. Based on the finite element analysis results, a lateral stiffness statistics formula was also set up. Compared with the test results, lateral stiffness calculation values of the two formulas were 16% smaller, which could meet the needs of practical engineering. © 2015, Huazhong University of Science and Technology.
