摘要
A number of specific requirements needs to be considered when producing massive structural components by using from self-compacting concrete. In terms of concrete technology, in addition to ensuring sufficient flowability and stability of the fresh concrete mix, particular consideration needs to be given to limiting the heat of hydration due to he large dimensions of the element. In the study, this was realized by using a CEM III/B 42.5 L LH/SR/NA blast furnace cement in combination with coal fly ash. Extensive initial testing using several mix designs was performed to obtain a formulation that would best meet the specified requirements. In order to further minimize the risk of cracking occurring as a result of the discharged hydration heat, the block was cooled after production by means of an internal pipe loop. The result showed that the internal pipe cooling succeeded in dissipating a significant portion of the hydration heat.
