Effects of modified starch, PEL and CPAM on retention and drainage of bleached chemical wheat-straw pulp is studied. They improve in fines retention as well as drainage. The fines retention and drainage of the wheat straw pulp can be improved by using these aids. The high DS cationic starch is more effective than the low one, and the modified potato starch has better retention effect than corn starch and tapioca starch.
