The two dimensional mapping of noise sources during a commercial airplane landing was studied. The measurement principle with large planar microphone array and its experimental equipment were presented. A new noise source, shedding vortex noise source, was discovered which is located in the wing near to wing tip. Form the SPL spectrum, it is shown that the noise source is a typical single tone noise source, its frequency increases with increasing airplane speed. The shedding vortex noise source is of obvious directivity. When the radiation angle changes from 60°C to 120°C, SPL of the noise decreases by about 5-8 dB(A).
