摘要
The conventional evaluation methods of cetane number were analyzed. Based on the characteristics of fuel molecular structure and active atoms mechanism, the influence factors of cetane number were investigated and an improved cetane fitting formula for ester fuel was proposed considering the density, refractive index and chemical bond energy of the ester. The method was proved by comparing the calculated values with the experimental values of the cetane number for seven esters. The results showed that with the decrease of double bond and the increase of C-chain length in molecule, the cetane number of ester fuel increased, besides, ester group of ester was the main influence of ester fuel cetane number. The average absolute error of the improved formula was 3.50, which was 4.40 lower than the existing formula. The accuracy of estimating the ester cetane number was effectively improved.
