Distributed Rao detection of weak signal based on local quantized measurements

To mitigate the detection problem caused by stringent bandwidth/energy constraints in wireless sensor networks, a Rao detector based on local quantized measurements was proposed. Distributed detection was optimized using the asymptotic detection theory. Local optimum quantization thresholds were obtained using a particle swarm optimization algorithm to solve the optimization problem, and the explicit expressions of the Rao detector, detection probability, and false alarm probability were derived. Compared with the unquantized and uniform quantization schemes, the results revealed that the proposed method can decrease information loss owing to the increasing quantization levels, thus effectively improving detection performance. © 2016, Editorial Department of Journal of HEU.
