摘要
A panel session held at the 1999 PES Winter Meeting in New York City addressed the role that high voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission technology might play in energy development during the twenty first century. Panelist focused on how HVDC technology will be used, regions of the world that will take advantage of dc transmission, HVDC innovations that may be anticipated, and whether they will be voluntary. The impact of the emerging deregulated power supply industry on HVDC transmission and interconnections are discussed whether there may be technological innovations that will reduce dc station costs and, if so, what they might be.
