The CGM glass melting technology, which can increase furnace capacity and improve glass quality, provided by the BOC Group, an industrial gases, vacuum technologies and distribution service company, is discussed. The technology uses oxy-fuel burners, which are located in the crown of glass furnace, to increase furnace capacity and improve glass quality. It can also be used to extend the life and improve the performance of ailing furnace. CGM propane and oil have been developed to provide alternative fuels as back-up to natural, and also where oil is the primary fuel.
