摘要
These days, ceramic materials perform tasks for different applications reliable. The potential of typical characteristics takes effects especially at complex requirements, whereas other materials are often predestinated for only one particular requirement type. Examples for innovative applications with complex material requirements are transparent optoceramic materials and polymer ceramic composites. Transparent ceramic materials compared to usual optical materials (like optical glass, single crystal, transparent polymer) clearly offer higher specific values for mechanical and thermal stability. In combination of typical ceramic and optical characteristics, transparent ceramic materials show attractive options compared to well-known optical materials and offer an enormous innovation potential. Polymer ceramic materials are composed of ceramic filler and silicon-organic polymer matrix. Through heat treatment it is possible to transform polymers into ceramic-like structures. They are characterized by high thermal stability (working temperature partly more than 600 °C), low shrinkage, high form stability and dimensional accuracy as well as UV resistance.
