Antiwear properties of additives to aqueous hydraulic liquids based on quaternary ammonium salts of higher carboxylic acids were investigated. Two groups of quaternary ammonium salts based on oleic acid and different ethanolamines, and based on triethanolamine and saturated and unsaturated carboxylic acids with hydrocarbon radicals of different lengths were synthesized. The effect of amine composition and length and structure of hydrocarbon chain in the carboxylic acid on the antiwear properties of the additives was estimated.
