The paper presents an improved algorithm for realistic imaging of cumulus clouds. The technique is based on the lattice-Boltzmann method and takes into account multiple scattering of light in the participating medium of high albedo. Relevant estimation of a phase function for such environment is proposed. Acceleration technique with specific initialization of boundary conditions for light propagation is postulated. Obtained results are discussed and compared to existing techniques. Sample renderings are provided. © Springer International Publishing Switzerland 2014.
