The printing/writing paper sector recorded the largest production increase in the year 2000 in the paper and pulp industry in Slovakia. The main contributor to this increase was Severoslovenske celulozky a papierne (SCP), with its extra output of uncoated woodfrees. The company invested around Euro 6.6 million in projects in 2000 that were focused on installation of new evaporators and improvement in stock preparation. SCP plans to invest in causticizing process and pulping boilers at a cost of around Euro 4.0 million. Another producer, Harmanecke papierne, developed a new range of toilet paper and focused on tissue production increase.
