TEM observation on microstructure of rapidly solidified Al-Fe-V-Si-Zr-Ti alloy powders

A new Al-Fe-V-Si-Zr-Ti alloy was designed, based on the Al-Fe-V-Si and Al-(Zr, Ti, V) systems. The ultrasonic gas atomized powders below 61 μm were investigated by TEM. There are two types of spherical phase and cellular structure in the powders below 40 μm. The lamellar structure could be observed in the powders from 50 to 61 μm. The microstructures of the powder particles below 61 μm consist mainly of Al12(Fe, V)3Si and Al3 (Zr, Ti, V) dispersoids and a small amount of lamellar structure.
