The collisional coupling effect consisting of a coherent amplitude transfer between two molecular transitions was studied. The consistency of such a coupling effect with the conservation of resonance frequency for the scattered molecular lines was investigated. The understanding of the problem required a more appropriate theoretical treatment of collisional coupling or the existence of a decoupling between well resolved lines.
