Effect of pre-recovery-annealing treatment on microstructure and properties of extruded 7085 aluminum alloy was investigated by microstructure observation, tensile test, XRD and EBSD analysis, and the strengthening mechanism was explored. The results show that grain size of the alloy is refined after pre- recovery-annealing treatment, recrystallization is restrained and mechanical properties improve. The increase of strength is attributed to low angel grain boundaries strengthening and dislocation strengthening.
