The corrosion tests of cast composite materials with Cu-Based (BrOTsS5-5-5) matrix, reinforced by granules of carbon or alloy (12Kh13) steel, are carried out in water environment at 18-20 and 10-13°C. It is found that the composition of the composite materials and testing conditions influence their corrosion resistance. Replacement of carbon steel in reinforcing phase for alloy steel of martensite-ferritic (12Kh13), martensitic (20Kh13-95Kh18) or austenitic (Kh18N10) class results in corrosion rate diminution of metal-matrix heterogeneous cast composite materials. It is shown that the protective coatings in the form of passivating film also reduce the corrosion rate. The durability of sliding bearings, made of above composites, is raised by 203 folds in the heavy-loaded friction units.
