The company-wide implementation of PLM systems frequently results in far-reaching consequences for the entire organisation of the company. Due to their complexity, projects to implement PLM systems are always connected with a multitude of risks. Insufficient consideration of these risks can cause failure of the project. In a first step, relevant elements of risk management are identified with respect to the implementation of PLM systems. Based on this, a new risk management system is introduced for specific usage during the implementation of PLM systems. Risk management organisation as well as risk management workflows and methods to be applied are described by giving examples. Finally, experiences from implementation projects are presented. © Carl Hanser Verlag.
