Under modern conditions of industrial production, it is necessary to save energy. Excess energy consumption is observed in processes of steelmaking. Application of advanced thermal insulating materials makes it possible to reduce energy consumption. The materials on basis of vermiculite are very efficient. Technology for manufacturing the thermal insulating materials based on vermiculite has been developed. Rational compositions of the materials have been determined. Heat losses in metallurgical units have been reduced. Consumption of fuel in various furnaces has significantly been decreased.
