Komori International (Europe BV): Digital offset printing shows its strength in B1 format

At Ipex, Komori presented two B1 printing machines of the new generation of 40-inch printing machines: the Lithrone S640 and the Lithrone S540D. The D indicates digital. The company also exhibited a conventional six-colour in B1 format and a five-colour in the same format with digital imaging. The most important details of the new generation of machines include: automatic setting of colour zones using CIP4 data; printing start using KHS One-Shot Colour Management, whereby the machine is in colour after 30 sheets; automatic register control; scanning spectro-densitometer for correctly setting colour zones; rapid, non-cassette plate-exchange system; new cleaning system for the colour rollers; new fully automatic rubber blanket and counter pressure wash system; printing on paper and cardboard of up to 0.04 to 1 mm thickness; maximum print speed of 16,000 sheets per hour. The maximum plate size in the S family is 1030 × 800 mm, the largest paper format 1020 × 720 mm, and print format 1020 × 710 mm.
