Performance measurement-driven continuous improvement schemes were discussed. The quality of improvement depended on the quality of leading and lagging performance indicators. Process mapping, cause and effect analysis were required to be used in an integrated way with performance measurement models. Providing information technology (IT) support was expected to eliminate some of the problems and promote sustainable continuous improvement.
