According to the International Energy Agency (IEA), coal is the second largest fossil fuel in the global energy mix, its primary use is to produce steel and cement, and it is the largest source of electricity generation and a significant fuel for industrial use. It is also the largest single source of global carbon dioxide emissions, which accounted for approximately 40[%], or 15 billion tonnes, of global CO, emissions in 2021.
