In order to plan the overall architecture of the lunar communication network for China's manned lunar exploration and arrange the key technologies necessary, research and analysis have been conducted on the development trends of cislunar space communication systems by international space powers. Based on an analysis of the characteristics of China' s manned lunar exploration activities and the needs for a lunar communication network composed of multiple nodes on the lunar surface, a general technical architecture suitable for China' s future lunar communication network has been proposed. On the basis of the overall architecture design, the construction requirements of the lunar communication network have been further refined, and relevant issues and solutions have been analyzed in comparison with ground mobile communication technology. Key technologies required for the construction of China' s lunar communication network have been identified, and suggestions for development and research have been made. A basic communication protocol framework has been proposed, and finally, the future development direction has been discussed. © 2023 China Spaceflight Society. All rights reserved.
