摘要
This paper studies the fatigue performance of the joints of corrugated weathering steel webs (CWSWs) and reinforced concrete (RC) top slabs in the composite box girder bridge under transverse bending moments. Based on the Feilong Bridge, a specimen was prepared for the transverse bending fatigue test. The fatigue life, failure mode, and the variation of flexural stiffness of the joints of CWSWs and RC top slabs were analyzed. Following the theory of linear cumulative fatigue damage, the fatigue life of related details of the specimen was evaluated using the formulas suggested in Eurocode 3 and AASHTO. The results demonstrate that the joints of CWSWs and RC top slabs in the specimen were finally subjected to 2 091 400 load cycles, indicating the joints meet the required fatigue performance under transverse bending moments. The fatigue cracks in the welded joints of the corrugated steel webs and the steel flanges as well as the cracks in the RC top slabs are considered the primary fatigue damages, and the cumulation of fatigue damages weakens the flexural stiffness of the specimen, with the latter reducing to 34. 4% of the initial flexural strength. Compared with AASHTO? the formulas given in Eurocode 3 generate more conservative predictions of the fatigue life. © 2023 Wuhan Bridge Research Institute. All rights reserved.
