Physical starting test is needed before starting up PWR, and critical adjustment is the relative time-consuming part. The uses of tests under subcritical adjustment step, improve the safety and applicability of physical starting test, and improve the load factor of PWR. However, the measurement method of subcritical reactivity is difficult to be applied to commercial PWR, due to the weak measurement signal, strong background noise and large error. In this paper, the accuracy of subcritical reactivity measurement is improved by using the spatial importance correction factor and signal linear correction method based on the source multiplication method, and the Monte Carlo method of subcritical reactivity measurement is successfully implemented on the first cycle of nuclear power plant, and obtained better calculation accuracy and effect. © 2020, Editorial Board of Journal of Nuclear Power Engineering.
