摘要
In order to improve the performance of the existing fault location methods of flexible DC distribution networks, ensure the power supply reliability of DC distribution networks and quickly restore power supply after fault, a fault location method based on active fault current control is proposed. Using the high controllability of hybrid modular multilevel converters (MMCs), the fault current is divided into stageⅠand stageⅡ. In stageⅠ, the rapid suppression of fault current is realized and conditions are provided for smooth transition to stage Ⅱ. In stage Ⅱ, the precise fault location is realized by injecting high-frequency reverse current with the specific frequency. The design method of fault reference current is introduced. Taking the asymmetric "hand-in-hand" double-terminal DC distribution network as a typical scenario, the fault location principle is analyzed. Finally, a simulation model of double-terminal DC distribution network is built in PSCAD/EMTDC to verify the feasibility of the proposed fault location method. © 2021 Automation of Electric Power Systems Press.
