摘要
Hysteretic behavior of small-size outer ring plate joints between concrete-filled rectangular tubular columns with a wide flat section and H-shaped steel beams were carried out experimentally in order to develop the application of steel structure residential buildings. Five test specimens with 400 mm×200 mm column cross-sections were designed, taking into account the effects such as different sizes of outer ring plates, columns subjected to unilateral and bilateral bending, as well as bending around strong and weak axes of columns. Two types of failure modes, namely local buckling and cracking at the welded connection between beam flange and outer ring and shear failure at panel zone of column web were observed in the specimens. The behavior was investigated such as stress distribution in the outer ring, loading capacity, ductility, energy dissipation, stiffness, and strength degeneration. It is found that the joints have good earthquake resistance with a feature of weak components and strong nodes, except for the joint subjects to bilateral bending around a weak axis of the column. The joints have good performance regardless of unilateral or bilateral bending when they are under bending around a strong axis of the column. It is practicable to use smaller outer ring plates in engineering than the size required in the design specification for the joints between concrete-filled rectangular tubular columns with a wide flat section and H-shaped steel beams. © 2023 Science Press.
