In this article, we interview Hitoshi Kokumai, president of Mnemonic Security Inc, and a speaker and panellist at Consumer Identity World USA 2018. Kokumai has consistently questioned the view that biometric authentication will replace passwords, arguing that full security requires the two to go hand-in-hand. He relates this to the connection between biometrics and ‘false rejection’ explained here. © 2019 Elsevier Ltd
