摘要
Ultra-high voltage (UHV) half-wavelength AC transmission technology can achieve long-distance and large-capacity power transmission. This technology is of great significance for UHV transmission network construction and accommodation of clean energy throughout China. However, in cases of no-load lines, load rejection or short-circuit fault, there will be different levels of overvoltage along the UHV half-wavelength AC transmission lines. Aiming at this problem, this paper proposes a metal-oxide surge arrester optimal configuration method along the lines to suppress the overvoltage. The characteristics of overvoltage in half-wavelength AC transmission system is analyzed and the theory of using metal-oxide surge arresters to suppress power frequency overvoltage is studied. On this basis, the optimal metal-oxide surge arresters' configuration scheme along the lines is proposed. Then a simulation model is established using typical parameters of UHV half-wavelength AC transmission system to compare the overvoltage levels between conventional configuration without the arresters and optimal configuration with the arresters. Simulation results show that the configuration scheme with 11 or more metal-oxide surge arresters along the UHV half-wavelength transmission lines can suppress the overvoltage effectively and well satisfy single metal-oxide surge arrester's flow capacity. The research results provide an effective solution for suppressing overvoltage of the UHV half-wavelength AC power transmission system. © 2019, Power System Technology Press. All right reserved.
