摘要
IBC model was developed for the large-strain nonlinear consolidation of saturated soil layer with impeded drainage boundaries. The IBC model was verified by comparing against existing small-strain linear and nonlinear consolidation models with impeded drainage boundaries, and excellent agreement was obtained. Then parametric studies were conducted on several important parameters, including magnitude of strain, impeded boundary parameter and specific gravity of soil solids. The results show that large strains will decrease the length of the drainage path and, thus, accelerate the consolidation process, relative to small strain. The impeded boundary parameter of 0.01 is the threshold value between impervious and impeded boundary condition, whereas the impeded boundary parameter of 100 is the threshold value between impeded and permeable boundary condition.Specific gravity of soil solids has an important influence on the consolidation process, especially for soil with nonlinear constitutive relationships. © 2019, Editorial Board of Journal of Huazhong University of Science and Technology.
