A compact wideband coplanar waveguide (CPW) fed annular ring embedded dual sense antenna with right-hand circular polarization (RHCP) and left-hand circular polarization (LHCP) characteristics is proposed. The antenna is realized with a quasi-rectangular slot and a radiating rectangular patch fed with a CPW. Two auxiliary stubs are attached at the diagonally opposite ends of the patch to excite orthogonally polarized modes which result in circular polarization. A grounded annular ring is protruded into the rectangular slot to enhance the axial ratio bandwidth and dual sense polarization characteristics. The resonating lower frequency band is with RHCP and the upper-frequency band is with LHCP. The advantage of the proposed antenna involves a compact geometry of 0.67 λg × 0.67 λg × 0.036 λg, with the wideband circular polarization characteristics extending from 2.7 GHz–3.7 GHz and 6.8 GHz–7.6 GHz, thereby covering 5G (IMT-2020)/Wi-MAX and C-band Satellite Communication applications, respectively. © 2022 by Begell House, Inc.
