Steel plate manufactures are subjected to supply hot and cold rolled plates made of different thickness and different steel grades, that exhibit excellent flatness and low level of residual stress. This situation poses a challenge to engineers and machine designers to develop an adequate approach and solution that on one side enables to level diverse plates as requested and on the other side to keep the capital investment in an acceptable range. Danieli Wean United has investigated an approach, that aims to overcome the mentioned dilemma with the focus to level excellently steel plates made of varying thicknesses and steel grades, using one leveling machinery. The developed concept provides a flexible cassette system for leveling with adaption of leveling roll numbers. © 2019 Verlag Stahleisen GmbH. All rights reserved.
