A sprayer is an agricultural machine that can evenly distribute crop protection agents or liquid fertilizers on agricultural crops. For achieving homogenous distribution, it is important that the sprayer boom is always guided to the same distance of the crops. This paper describes a new approach of a sprayer boom control by using proven technology of hydropneumatic suspension. First, the overall system is presented. This is followed by a detailed comparison with current mechanical approaches. Insights into the development process and results from the field conclude the contribution. © 2022, VDI Verlag GMBH.
