摘要
Rural livelihood activities often operate with inherent balance obtained through years of operation to achieve economic and environmental sustainability. The livelihood assets are interdependent that the system often creates an inherent balance between energy, water, and food, which operate in a nexus. Stresses and shocks on livelihood systems can have impacts on the vulnerabilities of its assets. The ability to withstand these stresses and shocks define the resilience of a livelihood system, the inability of which leads to economic and environmental non-sustenance and extinction of livelihood system. The objective of the present work is to derive a framework to analyze the sustainability in a livelihood mechanism for the economic and environmental sustenance of the system. The parameters that affect each livelihood asset are defined, their influence on the existence of assets and interdependencies are related through equations. The importance of considering energy-water-food as a nexus for the sustainability of livelihoods and the effect of renewable energy interventions in nexus for economic and environmental sustenance are established. © 2022 by Begell House, Inc.
