摘要
Surface integrity (SI) obtained after electrical discharge machining (EDM) is an important surface quality parameter that needs attention. Micro-hardness (MH), recast layer thickness (RLT) and micro-cracks (MCs) are few important SI parameters of EDM surface. Nowadays, researchers are very serious to improve these parameters by hybridising the EDM with other mechanisms, keeping this in view, magnetic force-assisted powder mixed EDM (MFPEDM) was proposed for this study. The present research article aims is to compare the machining performances of the MFPEDM with the conventional EDM (CEDM) on the machined surface of aluminium titanium die-boride (Al-TiB2) metal matrix composite (MMC). And studies have also been carried out the modelling and optimisation of the machining performances of MFPEDM and CEDM by using a hybrid approach of artificial neural network-genetic algorithm (ANN-GA). The comparison results elucidate that MFPEDM, has praiseworthy improvement in MH, RLT, and MCs at average values and optimum values when compared with CEDM.
